Jungfraujoch, though not really the "top of the world", is an impressive location in the middle of the Swiss Alps, a climatic border between south and north. Though reachable by train since 1912, the journey takes its time and should not be underestimated - the place is on a breathtaking altitude of approximately 3500m asl.
Since the hotel on Jungfraujoch burned down in 1972, overnight stays are no longer possible for tourists. In 2010, a project in my "professional life" gave me twice an opportunity to spend a night as guest of the research station . Being there during twilight hours was a unique experience and well worth the lousy night due to my mild mountain sickness!
